Sleep apnoea: positive airway pressure really works (Destination Santé)
Do you suffer from sleep apnoea? Then use continuous positive airway pressure! You will be cutting your risk of premature death of cardiovascular origin by seven, as has been demonstrated for the first time by European researchers.
It has now been established clearly that continuous positive airway pressure is effective against high blood pressure which often accompanies sleep apnoea syndrome. This treatment consists of getting the person to wear a mask at night that covers the mouth and nose and provides a continuous flow of air. Respiratory pauses are thus diminished.

Unemployment kills!
Unemployment is a social plague, but also a Public Health concern. New research reveals the damage that can be caused by losing one’s job at the end of a career. This situation increases twofold the risk of suffering from a heart attack or stroke. This result emerges from work by an American team who, over a period of ten years, examined the health of 4 300 workers aged between 51 and 61 years, 582 of whom lost their jobs during the study. According to the authors, “unemployment is an extremely stressful environment which is likely to lead to an increase in the consumption of alcohol”.
