Description Advanced course on the clinical use of Doppler Myocardial Imaging and Three Dimensional Echocardiography - May 18-20 2006 :
Doppler Myocardial Imaging (DMI) has evolved over the last few years as one of the most rapidly expanding technologies with proven clinical applications. In addition, 3D technology has had also significant recent developments. The need for continuous upDate : on the technical principles, how to use
these techniques, and for demonstration of their clinical applicability is becoming more and more requested by the cardiology community. Under the leadership of the European Association of Echocardiography (EAE) this course has as its main goals to provide an overview on the principles of DMI and
3D echo, and their main clinical uses. It will be mostly clinical, with real cases presented by an international faculty of renowned clinical scientists. It is addressed to all cardiologists, fellows, sonographers, nurses and any other colleagues who may have an interest on ultrasound.

Description Management of Asymptomatic Patients with Valvular Disease - 06-07 October 2006 : The management of asymptomatic patients with
valve disease has become an important medical problem, firstly, because the widespread availability of echocardiography has led to such patients being diagnosed more frequently, and secondly, because the opportunity to perform less invasive intervention is also an incentive to intervene earlier.
However, clinical management is difficult and subject to controversy. This course will provide an up to Date : review on the elements of the decision-making process, including knowledge of natural history, role of diagnostic methods - including echocardiography at rest and during stress and new
biomarkers - and results of medical therapy, surgery and percutaneous valve interventions. Finally, the guidelines, and their application in real life practice from the Euro Heart Survey, will be discussed. The main part of the course will be devoted to practical case presentations allowing for
interaction between the audience and faculty.
